I went to Wicken Fen today for a couple of hours and took the dragonfly kit with me (40D, 5D MkII, 300mm F/4L IS plus 1.4 TC, 70-200 F/4L IS and 500D dioptre, MP-E65 and flash). I was lucky to arrive when a four-spotted chaser was in the final few minutes of its emergence from the pond. This gave a good opportunity to see a pristine, undamaged and quite beautiful specimen up close. There was also various hairy dragonflies (which I saw three or four of) around as well as some broad-bodied chasers (although I saw none). I persuaded one four-spotted chaser to climb on my finger too. Nice start to the season!
